Sternberg Museum

Hays, Kansas is the home to the Sternberg Museum. This is a wonderful place to see fossils, dinosaur skeletons, animations of dinosaurs and an extensive collection of live rattlesnakes.

Steam Train Ride (Or not...)

We arrived in Silverton, Colorado to enjoy a narrow gauge steam train ride to Durango and watch the fall colors from a train coach. Turns out the steam engine broke so we ended up riding down the hill behind a center cab diesel.

Waiting to board the train in front of a reflective window

Here comes our motive power - a GE 98 Ton Center Cab Diesel

Coupling and hooking up the air lines

Ready to go

Four Corners

There is only one place in the United States where the corners of four states touch. Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona all meet at Four Corners Park. The location is marked in such a way as to allow your feet to straddle all four states at once.

This is on Navajo land and the monument has individual booths surrounding the marker which sell native jewelry. There are some pretty good deals on jewelry it seems.

Models in the Durango and Silverton Museum

The Durango and Silverton Museum is the location of some very nicely done models. Railroads, military figures and aircraft are all found there.

This was an O scale railroad that had a whimsical flair to it
