We've driven by the Fort Riley Military post many times and decided it was time the see the museums and explore the history.
This is the Calvary museum. It is constructed on limestone as are most buildings on the base |
This monument is in honor of the millions of horses who served the U.S.Calvary. The last horse to serve in the Army is buried nearby |
A variety of vehicles that replaced the horse are on display nearby |
One display coverd the history of saddles for the calvary |
Another museum is the Infantry museum for :The Big Red One" Division based at Fort Riley KS |
Exhibits included how the soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Buldge camouflaged their uniform with white bed sheets. |
The current tactics of todays military where shown |

Viet Nam history was included |
Looks like a nice museum. I would have never thought Fort Riley had museums.
