We made reservations to tour the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie house in Chicago. This is one of the better known Frank Lloyd Wright designs and has been our our 'bucket list' of Wright buildings to see and explore.
This is a popular attraction in Chicago and advance reservations are suggested.
The horizontal lines of the home are emphasized and the views into the house are controlled to give the owners privacy |
Most Wright houses have the entrances hidden from the casual observer. This one is no different |
The horizontal mortar lines are a lighter color and the verticals are brick colored. This is to emphasize the horizontal element |
Our docent did a nice job explaining the house while staying on a tight tour schedule |
This is the pathway to the entry door |
We gathered around the front door |
Inside the entryway and under the only curved line in the home |
Overhead detailing of lighting in the living room |
Accent lighting. some are missing and will need to be replicated |
Heating radiators are hidden from view |
Carpets have been reproduced with original detailing |
The art glass windows are beautiful |
Nice detailing of the drain board next to the kitchen sink |
I'm surprised you were able to take pictures inside. It sure looks similar to the house you docent at. I like the carpet details.
