The Cumbres and Toltec Railroad hosted a Motorcar run of 25 narrow gauge rail cars in mid September 2017. These rides are run under the rules of the NARCOA organization
Our friends, Mark and Deby, have a large narrow gauge gang car named 'Duchess' and invited us to ride with them on a multi-day tour of the railroad.
This railroad is jointly owned by the the States of Colorado and New Mexico and is a National Historical Landmark. Considerable efforts by many talented folks keep this antique equipment and railroad operating.
The rail yard at Chama is filled with restored narrow gauge equipment. |
They allow you to explore the historic rail yard but be sure to keep your wits about you as equipment is moving |
The motor cars were unloaded on the yard tracks |
A 'Galloping Goose' was also on the line and we met it at several places along the way |
