Maine Maritime Museum

You can find the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine. Maine was a hotbed of ship building for decades partially due to shallow shores leading to deep water.

The site of the Maritime museum was a sailing ship building yard with large six masted schooners being build here. Much of the ship building facilities is still in place and on display.

In addition, the museum has a considerable display of ship history shown in a beautiful display area.

One of the better ways to get around Maines many harbors is by passenger carrying boat. This shows one such route plan.

I took this image of the museum as I especially like the brick and stone work.

This shows the floating dry dock of the Bath Iron works. Many of the Navy's Destroyers are built here.

Lumber was cut to size in this shop

The miles of rope needed for a sailing ship was manufactured nearby

Many interesting boats are stored throughout the museum grounds

The full size lofts for the ships were laid out on the floor of this building
