We explored the Hudson River Valley while back East and went to see the Franklin D Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
| The visitor center is where you start your tour of the home, grounds and museum. |
| I particularly liked this sculpture of Eleanor and Franklin |
| Walking past the museum on the way to the house |
| Pretty nice place to live and entertain |
| The garage and stable were especially nice architecture |
| Inside the home |
| Bust of Franklin as a young man |
| Map of the grounds |
| FDR's Tomb |
We were able to enjoy the museum and the exhibit dealing with Pearl Harbor
The Roosevelt's had a wide variety of relationships and friendships. It was most interesting to visit a Presidential Library that discussed these in some detail - good and bad.
| I was particularly interested in reading about Eleanor's life and important role she played in the Presidency |
| Franklin's years as Secretary of the Navy resulted in a rather extensive model ship collection that is not particularly well lit |
| I found this image of Eleanor rather moving as it seems to capture her spirit and determination |
| Franklin's Ford outfitted with hand controls so he could drive |
| This is one of the best Presidential Libraries we have visited |
What a nice place! The stables were quite beautiful as were the grounds. Thanks for sharing.
