March 5 was the day for the big train show in Kansas City and we took the grandsons to check it out.
There was a big layout of Thomas the Train engines |
It was a big hit! |
Next up was a On30 scale Layout with a Colorado theme - my favorite |
Bennett had a bird's eye view |
The Bachmann display had many examples of the Thomas Trains they market |
Layouts were of all sizes and heights |
A complete scale model circus with operating rides |
Several model railroads made from Lego's were on display |
We liked the firemen feeding a pizza to the dinosaur |
The Hulk in action |
Emery ran a wireless controller at the Lionel display |
These were very well done models of the means that Boeing aircraft fuselages are transported from Wichita to Seattle for final assembly. |
Lots of time in building this roller coaster |
Running another layout |
Ships and waterways were modelled |
3D printers were running showing the latest technology for making model railroad parts |
Z scale is VERY tiny and allows the builder to pack a lot of scenery into the space with the trains |
Photographers were set up with props |
Garden railroads were set up at eye level for the kids to follow along |
Several engines that operate using real steam were on display. They have small burners that boil water for steam |
Waiting for the train to come by |
