Acadia

We made it to Acadia National Park on the Coast of Maine. What a fine place to explore!

We traveled to the top of Cadillac Mountain and enjoyed the views in all directions

There is a paved walkway that loops around the top with periodic interpretive signage. A cruise ship had stopped this particular day.

We next travelled on the Park's Loop Road and explored the coast.

This is Thunder Hole. An underground cave captures air when the surf is up and creates a loud sound. Visitors gather around the inlet and wait for the 'Right" wave to make the sound.

One of the nicest surprises to us was heading to Schoodic Point. This particular section of the park is known for the breaking waves making large clouds of spray when they come upon the rocks. People gather to photograph the scene. Hurricane Hermione provided enough wave action to make the trip worthwhile.

Sunset along the coast offers many opportunities for the photographer

I'm ready to go back...

George Selios Model Railroad

Peabody Massachusetts is the home of Fine Scale Miniatures. This is the business of George Selios who manufacturers very highly detailed kits in limited quantities. His attention to detail is fabulous.  In addition  to his kit business he is also known for the construction of his Franklin and South Manchester model railroad, arguably the finest detailed model railroad in the world.

He spends about 9 months each year manufacturing his production run of kits and the remaining three months building his model railroad. He has been constructing his railroad for decades.

He hosted an open house for the attendees of the 2016 National Narrow Gauge Convention. His business and railroad are both located in a second floor walk-up on Main street in Peabody. I feel this is the "Louvre" of the model railroad world and was privileged to see his masterpiece.

The following images have tried to capture the wide variety of scenes located all over his layout.

With luck you can park on the block in front of the door to the stairs u to his facility
It takes a bit of exploring to find the correct entrance

Steps lead to the second floor

This directs you thru the entrance door

When you enter you are in an aisle that takes you into the main display. There are small scenes along the entry aisle.

As you leave the main entry aisle the layout is before you
