Garden of the Gods

We enjoy exploring the Colorado mountains, but for whatever reason have never been to the Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs.

My Brother in Law had gone there years ago as a child and wanted to see if he remembered anything about the area so we made the trek to check it out. It proved to be a wonderful place to visit and explore

The visitor center is full of exhibits telling of the history and geology of the area

Even the signs to the Men's room were interesting

We arrived on a day when the park was packed with people and finding a parking place was a challenge. There are hiking trails all over the park.

Lots of climbers were trying their skills throughout the park

This fellow was rappelling down the side of the rock spire

Michael Garman's Magic Town

You can find a most interesting store selling sculptures of 1/6th scale people in Colorado Springs. Michael Garman is the sculptor. He has created models of all sorts of professions ranging from pilots to electric linemen.

He has then incorporated these models into 1/6th scale representations of cities called "Magic Town". Much of what he has created portrays the 'earthy' side of a city. The models are made in such a way as to allow you to peer into the upper windows of the buildings and see what is going on in the rooms.

Clever use of two way mirrors set at 45 degree angles makes the views change based on lighting. This offers two views of the same room and changing views of the alleys behind the buildings. Holograms have live figures taking throughout the layout.
