Crested Butte

We explored Crested Butte with my Sister and Brother in Law. Main reason was to eat at the Secret Stash, a wonderful pizza restaurant.

While there we also checked out the History museum which has a very well done HO scale narrow gauge railroad model of the town and a good overview of mountain biking development and the start of the town being a skiing mecca.

Afterwards we drove up to Lake Irwin to capture the mountain lake experience.

Nice to see the 'Pods" that carried skiers to the mountain top

A little bit of ski country whimsy?

The model railroad is glimpsed just over the mountain bike rear wheel

This is a historically accurate model of Crested Butte early in the early1900's

Each building on the layout has a page describing the history and how it was modeled

They did a wonderful job of blending the actual model with the painted backdrop
A stroll around the town finds all kinds of interesting things...

This attention getter was located along the main street of Crested Butte

Promoting a movie perhaps and looking for talent?

It was parked adjacent to this metal shop.
Bicycles are everywhere and of all types

The sign alerting folks parking their cars of the snow and ice sliding risk gives an idea of winter weather
We ended our trip at Lake Irwin, the quintessential alpine lake
