I had read that the New York State Museum was a "Must See" if you are in the Albany, NY area. That proved to be good advice. The museum provides a broad overview of the state and the various areas within. It covers life in the City of New York, wildlife, natural resources and has a particularly good display of the events of 9/11.
Historic fire fighting equipment was on display.
