Pioneers Museum in Colorado Springs

On our way home from Denver we stopped at the Pioneers Museum in downtown Colorado Springs. This is the architecturally significant, former courthouse now used as a museum for local history.

One portion showcased the local pottery factory. We had visited the factory before it closed partially because it was housed in a former railroad roundhouse.

One of the exhibits dealt with local history using the alphabet with highlights of the area under each letter.

I particularly enjoyed learning about Elvira. I remember her from watching late night television.

This as an interesting interface of a 3D wagon and a photograph of same

"T" covered Tesla's time in Colorado Springs. Quite a bit of history there...

This brought back memories. They have an operational "birdcage" elevator. This was the style of elevator in use before the more common enclosed ones we use today. My aunts lived in a building that had these and we had many a ride in one.

The actual courtroom used for decades is fully restored

The marble throughout the building is spectacular

Colorado Springs marketed itself as a healthy space to live and there was quite an exhibit about that

William Jackson Palmer was a promoter of railroads and a major figure in the development of Colorado Springs. His life and times were well documented.

We especially enjoyed the architecture of the building
