Buffalo Architecture

Buffalo NY is a town full of architectural treasure. We explored a variety of buildings while there.

Some are private and can be viewed from outside only. Frank Lloyd Wrights Heath house is one such example

We kept hoping the owner would ses us and say "Come on in", but not to be...

Ellicott Square was a turn of the century shopping mall with a wonderful lattice girdered ceiling

We found the old post office  just down the block with a similar ceiling

We went to a twilight tour of the Darwin Martin house and enjoyed seeing the restoration efforts underway there.

The tour starts at the Gardeners house which is pretty well done for a 'working mans' cottage

The main house was  spectacular, but no interior photos of the format house were allowed

They do however allow photos looking down the colonnade towards the green house

Windows to the greenhouse

The doors to the former stable now protect the gift shop

The landscaping is being completely redone to reflect how the house looked in 1907 - still a work in progress for now
