The Frederic Remington Museum of Art can be found in Ogdensburg, New York. This is a small town next to the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Mr. Remington was a talented illustrator and sculptor and is known today primarily for his western themed bronze castings.
This is a compact museum that is extremely well done both for showing his works of art and also for the architecture of the home itself.

Seems Mr. Van Buren should not play cards. Lost his money and his woman... |

I had it in my mind that once Mr. Remington sculpted a model of clay a mold was made and used repeatedly to make bronze castings. This was not the case as a clay model was good for only four or so castings and had to be remade. In some cases the design was changed to increase its accuracy. These castings are called "Cheyenne" Mr. Remington found out the Indians did not carry their shield on their shoulder, but their waist and changed the location on the later castings. |

Several details changed between the master clays including the tail and the legs |
This was a most interesting museum and a well documented account of a classic American artist - add it to our list of 'Must Sees'.
So cool! I love the process pictures for the sculpture of horse and rider. Quite the artist he was.
