Missouri State Capital

When we travel I often do a web search for places to see. A search for "Things to Do in Jefferson City Missouri" brings up that the #1 thing to see is the Missouri State Capital. This is for its architectural significance as well as the Missouri History museum.

We parked in the shade to keep the dog comfortable while we visited the Capital building

Trees were in bloom for our spring visit

Such great patterns and shapes

Murals are found along the corridors telling Missouri history

View looking into the Missouri History Museum

It looks as if there is work underway to discover past paint treatments

This is where the representatives meet

This was an interesting exhibit of a large 1/48th scale model of the Battleship Missouri. It was created to study the effects of antenna interference with portions of the ships superstructure and gunnery. It is all brass construction. The exhibit covered the ship model, the history of the actual battleship and the rather extensive antenna testing environment.

The main level includes the Missouri History museum

There were some well done scale models explaining Missouri history

This was my favorite exhibit. It is a pedal powered three wheeler built in 1868. The craftmnship is exquisite!

Models of Missouri mining were beautiful, but poorly lit. I had to use my flashlight to take pictures.

Of particular interest are busts of famous Missourians throughout the building.

The colored light coming thru this stained glass window highlighted our time in the Capital Building

It tinted the stonework adding to the architectural interest

Don't miss seeing this State Capital if you find yourself in central Missouri!
