Charleston - French Quarter walk

We visited Charleston, SC and found ourselves taking a walk around the southern portions of the town admiring the architecture and landscaping.

The layout of the town is rather compact and as such the inhabitants have done masterful jobs of landscaping small spaces.

The wrought iron work is beautiful

The waterfront parks were a nice respite from the heat of the day

Some of the dwellings are quite innovative in how they utilize their site plan

We found the bark on this tree of great interest

Carriage tours take you on guided tours throughout the area

Some great murals are to be found

Looks like someone was matching their cars color scheme to the building

Great doors

Historical signage helps explain the various highlights in the area

Views overlook the harbor including a four masted sailing ship

I liked the greenery growing on the step risers

Lots of military memorials in the parks

Not all wrought iron is decorative
