Deer
We were starting to feel a bit under-loved by the deer. We would go down to the mailbox to check on our mail and counted 98 deer on the return trip in groups of 20 or so along the mountain, but none were at our mineral and salt blocks.
Then, just the other morning we looked out and there they were feeding away. I guess they make their way up from the river as the weather warms.
Getting the Mail and Packages
We live up near that large mountain you see in the background of the picture below, but the mail is delivered to postal boxes along the highway. Whenever the mood strikes we travel down the hill to the postal box and check our mail. This is a bit of a trip and leaves us with a feeling of satisfaction when something is in our box.
UPS and Fedex will drop off packages at our door if the weather cooperates, but if the switchbacks are icy or snow packed they drop off our packages in our package drop box also down by the highway. We have tags that they place on the outside of the box to let us know a package awaits.
Itty Bitty Library
One nice thing about small mountain communities is the unusual things you find just strolling the streets. While in Ouray, CO we found this little sidewalk library.
You're a good blogger, keep it up Pops! :)
