Kansas State Capital

What started out as a single visit to see the Missouri State Capital has turned into a quest to see as many state capitals as time allows.

We actually started this quest  back in 2017 when we visited the Louisiana State Capital to see where Huey Long was assassinated.

Years later we were told the Missouri Capital was a must see. They were right!

It seemed an oversight to have not yet seen our state capital in Kansas given we had lived in the state for years. It did not disappoint.

The entrance is through the foundations of the building where a museum of Kansas history has been  established. The natural limestone foundation blocks are impressive!

Photographs of famous Kansans are found throughout

They did a particularly good job working the original footing for the building into the new flooring for the entryway museum.

  2. These capitols are all so different, but of the same era so similar in a way. I remember coming to Topeka as a 7th grader and getting a tour with my class. It was fun. Poor Kansas has such a bloody history. Sheesh.
