Beaumont Hotel

Ouray, Colorado is the location for the restored Beaumont hotel. I've admired the hotel for years and decided the time was right to stay there.

The hotel was one of the grand hotels of Colorado when built in the late 1880's. At the time of building it featured 50 rooms and the new fangled electric lights. Years went by and fortunes changed resulting in the hotel being abandoned for more than 30 years. The Kings eventually bought the hotel and spent 10 million dollars to restore it. In the process changed it to have 13 suites and very high levels of service.

My sister provided images of one of the rooms in the hotel.

The shower had a skylight for illumination

  1. It was wonderful to stay here. We noticed that Sarah Bernhardt the famous actress at the turn of the century and President Teddy Roosevelt stayed here at one time. I also learned that the exterior was once painted bright pink! Thanks to the King family of Texas for restoring it!

  2. It is such a pretty building. I was hoping you'd take a picture of the actual room, I've never seen one.

    1. Carol was good enough to send pictures of the room she and John stayed in so I updated the blog post with them.
