Bass Harbor Maine

Bass Harbor is everything you'd expect from a harbor of Maine lobster boats.

The harbor is protected by a signal light maintained by the Coast Guard. This is a popular light to photograph as being 'Quintessential  Maine'. You have to work a bit to get the image however.

After waiting for a while to get a parking spot you have an easy walk to this view of the light house and interpretive signage.

The other end of the parking lot is where you'll find the trail to the rocks below for the popular shot.

Steep stairways guide you down

Once you are on the rocks you begin to pick your way among them to move towards the water.

Eventually you begin to see the light and can compose your picture.

It is worth the journey...
