Bike Carrier

We plan to ride across Missouri on the KATY Trail starting in Clinton and ending in St. Charles.

Julie is going to follow our route in the motor home and meet us at the various trail heads along the way. Sort of a very personalized 'Sag Wagon".

The weather is shaping up to be rather rainy so having a means to get off the trail is likely to be very handy.

The motor home needed to have a way to transport one trike and two upright bikes and that was proving to be a challenge.

Turns out you can purchase cargo carriers that have bicycle holders built into them and will hold four upright bikes. We acquired one of these. It is intended to insert into the trailer hitch receiver of the tow vehicle.

We found when inserted into the trailer hitch receiver it ended up being too low and scraped when going thru driveway ramps. To fix that we purchased an adapter that raised the entire carrier and also moved it aft.

This worked out to be a benefit as it gave space for a place to mount some pipe and a few floor boards to hold the left front trike tire and still allow room for two upright bikes to fit.  We just finished it up and tried the trike for fit. Seems like it is going to work.
